POWER: Our town’s
Darren Eilers awoke to an eBay surprise
today. Eilers, who runs an eBay
drop shop in Creve Coeur,
got a special delivery of breakfast in
bed from eBay in recognition of his being
one of the company’s top sellers.
The company selected 100 sellers from
thousands around the country to receive
the special breakfast delivery at 10 a.m.
According to eBay, a new Nielsen survey
of the lives of these people from Thanksgiving
to Christmas shows that their businesses
take over their houses. According to the
survey, 84 percent work out of their homes
and use an average of 2 rooms for selling,
7 percent use their bedrooms, 16 percent
use their garages and 6 percent use their
entire house. They also respond to e-mail
inquiries day and night, average 4.3 weekly
trips to the post office, and 35 percent
of them average only five to six hours
of sleep a night.
